Wind-up bird, real feathers! Dyed in brilliant colors! Only $389.99!
I don't suppose anyone else ever played King's Quest 7? Well, in any case, there was a bull that ran a china shop whose precious wind-up bird was stolen and she was called Treasure. (And made of china, not feathers) this was inspired by that.
My model was a canary called Longstreet, who has sadly passed away.
Watercolor on paper. I may try scanning this again, the colors aren't true.

Beautiful pic, I love the detail on this. and the color looks great, so don't stress too much about it. I really like the detail of the key on the branch, and the bird's annoyed expression, it's cute.
As for the scanning, I've never tried scanning in a watercolor painting before, but I have a friend who does, and she recommended hitting control+L when it scans the test scan, then adjusting the scan from there, she said it's easier than photophop because you're not dealing with editing the pic, you are adjusting the scanner settings to pick up the colors better, and it's really easy.
